FIRST WE would like TO MEET WITH YOU AT OUR SHOP
WHERE YOU CAN STEP INSIDE of A TINY HOUSE (when available)
AND SEE IF it’s going to work FOR YOU
IF it’s a yes and A TINY HOUSE IS FOR YOU,
then let’s by all means move forward in the process
The next thing we need to think about in the process is where are you going to put your tiny house? Contrary to a lot of the stories you hear Maine is not really friendly to Tiny House Owners. (check out code and meet the code officer for the town you are thinking of first). Right now it is the more rural areas that will work. As for code, the whole state has the same code so your certificate of occupancy should be good wherever in Maine. Just have it inspected as you build it.
This next step usually one of the most difficult.
Determining what your real honest budget is?
Most of our customers start out with a trailer or a shell and build from there. We can discuss this and find what you are comfortable with and make sure you are successful. In order to move forward we need a real budget so we can determine the feasibility and how realistic your tiny house build will be. We need to know what your budget is before we meet at our shop or get very far into the adventure.
Our team of building professionals bring passion, creativity, hand craftsmanship and ultra efficiency to all of our builds.
Next is developing a plan…
Your notes and sketches, etc.
It’s a good idea to bring your notes, sketches and any plans you may have to our first meeting. That way we can get a feel for what you are thinking and how we can best make it work on your budget. We have access to many size trailers and plans so getting a rough idea of the style and size will make going forward much easier.
Sitting down with a designer and putting it all together…
We have professional designers who will meet with you to draw plans that meet your needs and to the level of complexity you wish. They start at about $900 for real plans that will make your tiny house build smooth. We will prepare a quote for your build laying out the style, size, what is included etc. Once we are all in agreement we will prepare and sign a contract reflecting the terms and conditions of your tiny house build.
Ordering the trailer, windows and materials needed to start your build
Now that we have a contract with the terms of what we are building all laid out in writing, we need to order the trailer, all of the windows and door(s) and other materials that take 3-4 weeks for delivery. We will require an initial deposit for these costs which are all controlled by the contract for the benefit of both you the buyer and us the builder.
Let’s get building right now!
